How the math works
Seasoning per pound of product = seasoning weight ÷ batch weight. Multiply by the batch you want to make. Example: 1.5 lb of seasoning in a 50 lb batch is 0.03 lb per lb of meat, or 3%. For 2,000 lb (907 kg) of meat a month, that is 60 lb (27 kg) of seasoning.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I calculate seasoning per pound of meat?
- Divide the seasoning weight by the batch weight. 1.5 lb of seasoning in a 50 lb batch is 0.03 lb per lb, or 3%. Multiply that figure by any batch size to scale it.
- Does the usage rate change between a marinade, a dry rub and an injection?
- Yes. Format, cut and process change how much seasoning a system needs. Use the rate you run today; a formulator sets the rate for a new system on your line.
- How do I turn usage into a monthly order?
- Multiply seasoning per pound by your monthly production. Compare the result with the first-order minimum: 309 lb (140 kg) per SKU for meat systems and 551 lb (250 kg) per SKU for snack systems.
